The Screen Saver plugin, made by Pafy, offers the ability to animate the desktop after a configurable period of inactivity. There are two possible effects: Flying windows and Rotating cube.

Flying windows

If any windows are maximized, they all fail to render, and you're left with the skydome from cube (if set) and no windows flying. With only un-maximized windows works quite nicely. At present, reflections for cube must be off, otherwise you get a corrupted combination of flying windows and rotating cube (regardless whether bouncing windows is set).

Rotating cube

Works very nicely.
